The Blue Room at Hayes Park

These are the plans for the "Blue Room" of Hayes Park

The windows look out onto the Western Gardens and out to the ocean. The best time to be in this room would be at dusk when the sun is setting and the golden glow of the sun shines in through the arched french windows and all of the warm colours - the rich oak parquet floors, the majestic blue silk wall-coverings, the gold-leafing on the columns and moulding, the warm mahogany doors - illuminate and the Bohemian cut crystal of the fifteen Versailles chandeliers sparkle.

  • Walls: Blue French Damask Silk
  • Floors: White Oak Versailles-style parquet with mahogany borders
  • Columns: Angular Ionic
  • Plinths and Base: Sierra Marble
  • Fireplaces: 2, Carrara marble
  • Chandeliers: 14 12-light and 1 36-light Versailles-style brass and cut crystal chandeliers
